Bob Bodnar
Bob has lived in a 1919 Craftsman bungalow in East Oakland for 20 years. He is a government attorney and chairman of his neighborhood council (NCPC). He has worked on community improvement projects, adopting a large traffic island and adding planter boxes to what had been a barren, asphalt-covered eyesore. Bob is an avid bike commuter, riding from his house to the Jack London Ferry terminal and into San Francisco daily. Riding around Oakland on a bicycle can be very serene. The ride through Fruitvale and along the estuary never fails to elevate his mood. Bob enjoys the water. He learned to sail on Lake Merritt and now ventures under the Golden Gate once in a while. You might see him on his SUP, paddling in the waters off Jack London Square. He’ll be the one occasionally leaning down to pick up trash. Bob serves as the 2019 Board Chair. |
Leah Cerri
Leah Cerri has been working in the nonprofit sector for over 15 years. She has developed training for mentoring programs and has built volunteer programs for Episcopal Community Services, Mission Economic Development Agency and San Francisco CASA. She currently works for Eden Housing as the Volunteer Programs Manger. Leah has her Master’s degree in nonprofit business administration from Tulane University. In addition to being a Board Member for Keep Oakland Beautiful, she currently is part of Leadership Oakland class of 2017, and is a member of Hayward Rotary. She has previously served as the External Committee Lead for the Board of Directors for CommunityGrows, and has served on the Membership Committee for the Young Nonprofit Professional Network. In her spare time she enjoys going on hikes with her dogs and gardening. Leah serves as the 2019 Board Vice-Chair. |
Leslie Allen
Leslie is a biologist and environmental consultant and has lived in Oakland since 2004. Her work focuses on environmental regulatory compliance for public infrastructure and transportation construction, habitat restoration, and technical studies of wetlands, plants and wildlife. She and her husband met in Oakland and live in the Piedmont Avenue Commercial District, where you can find them walking their dog, working on house renovations, and swapping garden vegetables with neighbors. Leslie serves as the 2019 Board Secretary. |
Henrietta Fabio
Henrietta is a native Oaklander, lives with her husband of 40 years, has two sons and three grandsons. Henrietta joined the Air Force National Guard after attending Castlemont High School. She began her career in the Insurance Industry with Equitable Life Insurance beginning as a clerk. She worked for 30 years in Workers Compensation Claims and operated a part-time Financial Planning business with Mass Mutual Financial Services. Prior to retiring, she held the position of Hearing Representative with Sedgwick Inc., litigating all but the most demanding cases requiring Attorney participation. Now retired, Henrietta has an Adopt-a-Spot, which she substantially improved and looks forward to continuing to beautify. She is on the Landscape Committee in her community and hopes to plant daffodils along 98 th Ave. this year. Henrietta serves as the 2019 Board Treasurer. |
Amy Schweng
Amy Schweng is a Bay Area native and currently lives in the Glenview neighborhood of Oakland. She has fond childhood memories of frequent trips to Oakland Chinatown for groceries and dim sum and climbing the dragon at Children’s Fairyland. Now she can be found enjoying Oakland’s natural beauty by exploring the various parks and trails scattered throughout the city, running around Lake Merritt, or participating in various clean-ups in Glenview, Dimond Park, Sausal Creek and the Cleveland Cascades. Amy hopes to contribute to the Keep Oakland Beautiful mission by bringing her spirit of volunteerism and passion for keeping things neat and tidy wherever she goes. |
Annie Ledbury
Annie is an Architect and Creative Placemaking Manger for the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation where she specializes in community design, affordable housing, and sustainability in vulnerable neighborhoods across Oakland. She has over ten years of experience creating, managing, and implementing small creative projects with neighborhood residents and businesses in Oakland, Oregon, and in NYC. She is a third-generation Bay Area resident, happily rooted in the East Oakland neighborhood of Jingletown with her fiancée, kitty, bicycle, and avocado tree. |
Andrea Silvestri
Andrea Silvestri has wide-ranging experience in several design disciplines, including graphic design, design for public space, human interface design, and information design. Her work focuses on organizing complex information and synthesizing design and technology. Andrea is an avid outdoor enthusiast and loves hiking, backpacking, swimming, and walking around Lake Merritt. She participated in Keep America Beautiful clean up days when she was a child and still remembers the crying Indian ad campaign. She lives with her husband and daughter in the Ivy Hill neighborhood. |
Betty Lucas
Betty Lucas is the Director of EyeCare America, a national public service program that provides eye care to underserved individuals through more than 5,500 volunteer ophthalmologists. Her previous work included various other kinds of volunteer management: coordinating the delivery of free meals to homebound recipients, establishing systems for engaging volunteers in emergency preparedness and response, and setting up a court program to refer traffic code violators to community service in lieu of paying fines. Betty, her husband, and two cats have been Oakland residents for nearly twenty years. She loves Oakland for its beauty, parks, diversity and energy. In addition to hiking in the area, she is involved with organizing community activities, both informally and as a block captain. |
Camyle Allen
Camyle is an environmental consultant who brings her passion and advocacy for environmental sustainability to the KOB board. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan. Camyle has volunteered throughout Oakland with various organizations that focus on applying the core concepts of environmental sustainability to community revitalization projects, community development, education, public health etc. She hails from Michigan and moved to California in 2017; currently, she lives in Oakland where she can be found enjoying the many bars and restaurants the area has to offer or hiking with her Shiloh Shepherd. |
Margo Brooks
Margo was born and raised in Berkeley and has a passion for the environment, and has studied green design, energy efficiency and permaculture design. She has over 15 years experience as a production manager working in television in Los Angeles, as well as organizing and teaching workshops, owning her own business and working in finance. Margo now lives in the Oakland hills working as a freelance project manager and is dedicated to enhancing her community, believing that change starts at home in the community and ripples out to create more beauty in the world. |
Michael Gabriel
Michael Gabriel brings his experience as staff consultant to non-profit groups and his interest in beautification to the KOB board. After 27 years, Michael retired from national non-profit, NeighborWorks® America. There, he reviewed over $100 million in grant applications and helped organizations to increase civic participation using mission-based, economically sustainable models. The Bay Area native studied at UC Berkeley and worked as a Zoning Administrator for Piedmont and Oakland. His lifelong interest in landscaping grew while working for a design-build landscape firm during his college years. Michael’s community volunteer activities include serving as president of the Glenview Neighborhood Association, president of the Oakland Recycling Association, member of the Oakland Community Economic Advisory Commission, and numerous other task forces and committees. His other interests include art pottery, architecture, antiques, and gardens and he enjoys living in a 1912 Craftsman home with his family. |
Mike Charlasch
Mike Charlasch leads a boutique marketing agency called Morphist, focused primarily on serving jazz-related organizations. With a background that includes staff positions at Universal Music Group, Verve Records and SFJAZZ, he has worked with leading artists such as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Diana Krall, Chris Botti and hundreds more. He has also held traditional consumer marketing positions with companies including Princess Cruises, Pepsi and Clairol. Mike's MBA is in marketing, from the UCLA Anderson School. One of his passions is cactus gardening and you can see a prime example of this endeavor at the corner of 32nd and Helen Street in West Oakland, where Mike lives with his wife Hélène and dog Mini. |
Paxcelli Flores
Paxy immigrated to the Bay Area from Central America, grew up in the East Bay and now calls Oakland home. Paxy is passionate about making her community a better place. Paxy is a project associate at a non-profit that specializes in affordable home ownership in the Bay Area. She brings her project management skills to the Keep Oakland Beautiful board for Oakland. Paxy is an avid arts consumer, a pop culture junkie and a foodie. You can find her in the Maxwell Park neighborhood with her partner, daughter, pitbull, and chihuahua doing various house remodeling projects, gardening and chatting it up with neighbors. |
Sara Tetreault
Sara has more than a decade of experience leading and delivering audience research studies, content strategies, and strategic messaging projects. Sara is currently Director, Brand Strategy for Forum One and has led content marketing and strategy for healthcare technologies at the Advisory Board Company and managed health communications at the Brookings Institution. Sara has worked with clients such as USAID, Global Impact, Internews, the Aspen Institute, and the Smithsonian National Zoo and has extensive experience conducting audience research, developing branding strategies, and crafting content, visual messaging, and scripting for fundraising pitch decks. Sara is also a member of YR Media's communications advisory board. In her spare time, Sara enjoys exploring parks in the Bay Area, walking her dog, and creating new things. |
Victoria Herrera
Victoria brings a marketing and networking background to KOB. She has extensive experience working in the public sector, and is passionate about education, social justice, and activism. She loves gardening, visiting local shops, reading, and can often be found taking pictures at KOB events. |
Warren Klein
Warren is a local area attorney, who has dedicated his career to public service and has a background in civil litigation, business securities, and environmental law. Warren received a Masters of Law for Environmental Laws from Pace University School of Law, and has been published in the Environmental Claims Journal. He lives in Oakland with his fiancee Rebecca, and their dog Cooper. An outdoor enthusiast, Warren frequents the parks in the area with Rebecca and Cooper, and can often be found playing baseball on weekends at Oakland’s Henderson or Raimondi fields, or exploring Oakland’s many new bars and restaurants. |
